NHIS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT GETS NATIONAL RECOGNITION

Congratulations to our NHIS Counseling Department for meeting the criteria and receiving the distinction of being a Recognized America School Counseling Association (ASCA) Model Program (RAMP). This is indeed a special honor and recognition for our Counseling Department.

Since the program's inception, over 650 schools have been designated as RAMP recipients. The RAMP designation is awarded for aligning with the criteria in the ASCA National Model and a commitment to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program.

NĀNĀKULI INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL TEAM...DIVISION CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to our Nānākuli Intermediate Football Team for winning the JR. Prep Sports Hawaii Division 1 Blue Conference Championship this past Saturday, December 3. They played the Wahiawa Jr. Mules and won by the score of 24-8 . Majority of the team are made up of Nānākuli Intermediate students and several students from Ka Wai Hona Charter School. Congratulations again, Jr. Golden Hawks. #ValleyStrong

NĀNĀKULI STUDENT...A HAWAIʻI AMBASSADOR TO TAHITI

Congratulations to Nānākuli High & Intermediate student, Olivia Weaver-Cabinatan ('18). She has been selected as a Hawaiʻi Ambassador and will participate in a student exchange program in Tahiti. The event will take place in March 2017. As part of the PAAC program, Olivia had to write an essay and interview for the spot. The program consist of language exchange, exposure to traditional Polynesian culture, and performances in hula and tahitian dance. Right on Olivia!

HECO MAKES DONATION TO JROTC PROGRAM

As part of its fundraising campaign to purchase equipment and to defray the cost of competitions, our Golden Hawk Battalion (JROTC Program) received a generous donation from Hawaiian Electric. The cadets are humbled and grateful for the donation and support from Hawaiian Electric.

NĀNĀKULI COMPLEX SCHOOLS TO BE VISITED BY THE WESTERN ASSOCIATION of SCHOOL and COLLEGES (WASC)

The three schools that make up the Nānākuli Complex, Nānākuli High & Intermediate, Nānākuli Elementary & Nānāikapono Elementary, will be visited by full panels of educators from Hawaii and the mainland. Each school will be going through the WASC Accreditation process. Each school will be visited from April 3 - 6. The week will end, on April 7, with the sharing of the Complex's collaborative plan to address the issues that affect all three schools. FREE LUNCH FOR LEEWARD COAST STUDENTS

The Hawaii State Department of Education will provide free breakfast and lunches for all enrolled students at Nānākuli High & Intermediate School for the 2016-17 school year. This is made possible through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the United States Department of Agricultural National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.
